Topic: Good plants for near the pond

I'd like to make the area around our pond a pretty non growing area. Are there any suggestions, or can anything go near it?

Have some suggestions based on what grows well around my pond if it helps:
All these take quite moist boggy conditions well -
Caltha palustris (kingcup)
Iris pseudacorus (yellow flag iris)
Juncus effusus f. spiralis (corkscrew rush)
Gunnera manicata (Giant rhubarb - inedible - if you have room)
and plants like Dicentra spectabilis (bleeding heart) and Arum italicum subsp. italicum 'Marmoratum' (lords and ladies) look good near a pond too, as do a lot of ferns.

I have irises around my pond and a few others which names I can't remember now. I bought from this place, good service and the plants, a year on, are doing well.

It depends totally on the size of your pond and the amount of space round it. I would look at all the advice given but think carefully about the dimensions of your pond as well as the amount of space ( vertical and horizontal) that you have available.
