PM's
« on: January 17, 2006, 13:38:39 »
Ok this is probably me being thick again but here goes.

I don't seem to be able to PM anyone as there's no longer a reply button at the bottom of each PM I receive. Also when I go in to a members profile to send a PM that way I can't find any way of doing it.

Can somebody point me in the right direction please?

Read Dan's 'Personal Messages' post in the swap shop today, Eileen, if you haven't already found it.

Two other forums I'm on,  the max.limit for PMs in your inbox is 20. And then the loud shout of 'EMPTY YOUR INBOX'! goes out on the main forum ;D
Seems to work OK.

Well I did get rid of them and my 3 messages took up 60% of the mailbox, so it looks like we are limited to 5 PMs now. IS that right Dan? (or at least I am  ;))

Dan I've cleared out my inbox but how do I get to clear out my sent messages, there were lots of messages in there but it won't allow me to view the outbox, or has it been cleared automatically?

hi Dan, just an idea, cant the inbox for PM sent e-mails,received e-mail be placed on an auto delete after 50 posting to PM's e-mail's etc, saving  your time and space or an auto e-mail alert to the PM holder to read and empty their boxes as being full,
 keep up the good work

Sounds like a good idea, but I would hate to auto delete any important information, addresses / emails etc.

The warning may be an idea - I'll have to investigate.

Cheers

It is generally not a good idea to publish everyones email address, there are internet bots which trawl the internet looking for email addresses which ca be harvested and added to junk email lists.

I get hundereds of emails I could begin to describe to admin@allotments4all.co.uk!

On readin this thread I have now 'cleared out' my PM inbox (i had 12 in total). I still cant send any though  ???

Heres a top tip for PMs. To keep your inbox clear but not loosing any info contained in the messages, why not copy then into MS Word (or similar program) and save them as a file on your PC? This is what I have just done with my important PMs.

As I've said in Swap Shop, I am reintroducing PM's slowly to users, if you send me an email I will make them available for you.
