Netto 19p Seeds Offer Starts Tommorow
« on: January 15, 2006, 21:36:43 »
As above. Get to your local Netto nice and early. I called in my local Netto on the off chance as I thought they might stock the shelves with the seeds today. They only had the flower seeds on display, but a nice assistant fetched the veg seeds from the back room and let me have the pick of the bunch to myself.
I bought 27 packets of seeds for £5.13.
They are DT Browns.
Set your alarm clocks and get a bargain!!!
John ;)

Thanks John, just been and bought mine. Amongst them were Hurst Greenshaft peas. I called into Homebase afterwards and the same peas were £1.99 ::)

I haven't got a Netto's but there is an Aldi's here. Do Aldi sell seeds?
For myself I am an optimist - it does not seem to be much use being anything else.

Aldi did last year - cheap but not that cheap

I grew aldi's side by side with some "quality" seeds - the quaity seeds seemed to do better especially leeks and caulis

this may just be me :-)

Thanks JohnnyLarge, bought 13 packets for £2.48.  That's got to be the bargain of the year for seeds!  Now I've just got to find enough allotment to grow all my seeds and plants in!

Sheldon, Birmingham.  I've put the pin on Google Earth where my shed is, in the allotments.  It's in an area with a satellite photo which is cool!  You can't miss it, there's a bl**dy great big Airport next door!

Hi gunnerbee, I'll pick you up a fivers worth if you want me to. Mail me with any preferences. They do flower as well as veg seeds.

Yes, thanks for the tip. I went down yesterday and got 44 packets!  ;D

Enough to sort out the annuals and bedding plants for the garden as well as quite a bit of veg.
Just have to find somewhere to get them all started now.....
I hoe, I hoe, then off to work I go.

At the risk of sounding totally stupid - what does Netto stand for.  I must admit I have never seen one of those shops down here in Dorset? ???

Sorry to make it worse I am originally from South Africa and have only been in Dorset for 14 months. :-\
If you can't be a good example -- then you'll just have to be a horrible warning....

No Netto in Leicester but I got most of what I wanted at the end last year from Wilko with 75% off. I've kept them cool and dry so I just hope they come up :D
Thanks

Is Netto a hardware store. I have never seen one and have lived through my life in various parts of England?

Small supermarket chain. Cheap food, cheap booze, cheap range of hardware / household goods. The emphasis is on cheap not on any other quality.

Whilst I agree with Larkspur, cheap does not always mean poor quality. A lot of the foodstuffs at Netto are made in the same factories as the well-known brands.
Some of the cakes and chocolate are particularly nice. We always did our shopping at Morrisons and Tesco. Now we always pop into Netto on our way to Tesco and check on the bargains.
What puzzles me is how can Netto sell DT Browns seeds at 19p, when they are normally about £1 anywhere else?
John :)

John, didn't necessarily mean to impune the quality, just that the emphasis is on prices, so I agree with you too. ;D
Like you I am amazed that they can sell such a reputable firm as D. T. Brown's seeds at .19p.

I`ve never even heard of Netto, let alone used them.
Most of my seeds I get from Alan Romans web site for 50p a Packet
