My Gardeners Delight were wonderful last year, was so overjoyed with them also. I had LOADS! I've already bought Organic seeds for next year. My Gardeners Delight also won me 1st prize in the Village show! I was overjoyed! I don't think anyone on here knows about that! Dan :-)

Congratulations!

While we can't claim any prizes, we were pleased with the yield and flavour of Garderners Delight, and we're growing them again this year.  Ditto Ailsa Craig (these are clearly the popular choice on A4A  ;D ).

In answer to Paulines7, we also grew a few Tigerella.  They were very popular with the family, and we got a decent crop, but they're not top of my list for flavour.  I'd happily grow them again, but hmmm, they're not in my seed tin right now.

How long is a piece of string?

Gardeners Delight, outdoor Girl, any of the `Del` series from `Simpsons`-Marmande if they ripen .Sweet Million-Russian Black and Gerren Zebra ripen outdoors here.

Try anything apart from the really long season beef toms and hybrids bred for indoor culture.

And `Money Maker`-it will crop-but it`s easier to buy cotton wool and stain it red. ;)

Yeah, me old Dad always grows Moneymaker, and although he gets a bigger and earlier crop than I do, I can buy the same toms in Morrisons in December.

Tasteless isn't the word.

Anyone grown Harbinger? I picked it off the Kings list because it's described as an old-fashioned variety with 'very good flavour', and 'ideal for outdoor crops'. If it's not so good, it's only 48p (I ordered through my Association) and I can easily get something else.

Amateur are nice.

Yellow currant I always grow in pots & shove them in the borders where there's a space. Always crop heavily.

Dismayed to read your comments about tigerella ~ a new one for me this year :o

My best crops outside last year were from Ferline. While all around where stuck with Blight I was still picking fresh outdoor toms the size of tennis balls in October. Very good meaty fruit.

Legend is meant to be another good outdoor blight resistant type.

Sungold was good outdoors but fell to blight early one. The fruit was lovely and sweet though.

I also had a big crop of San marzona outside. Good fleshy plum tomato that is good in sauces and for drying.
