My allotment is extemley stoney so most varieties fork. However, a couple of years ago i tried Chantenay Red Core, they dont seem to mind the stones at all. Thats the only variety i grow now.
Straight outt'a compton - West Berkshire.

How interesting, I also have very stony soil, but found Chantenay Red Core to be very mediocre. As I have said, Autumn King, and Berlicum have been my best (outstanding) performers to date.

I also have some Chanterelle (I think they're called)

I think you mean Chantenay, a Chanterelle is a kind of mushroom

Yes I did,  thanks for pointing that out....love the mushrooms as well though  ;D

One of my thrifty lottie neighbours cropped beautifully with Franchi's Flakkee last year. He reckons the seeds are better quality than other brands of the same variety, and there are more of them. I plan to plant the same on his recommendation, he doesn't willingly part with the pennies  ;D
Derek you must have orange fingers, I planted half a bed of Autumn King and got three spindly plants for me trub  :'(
