Phone call from DT Brown tonight - they are out of International Kidney so we have settled for Lady Christl which is fine as we had that last year and really liked. Third year we have not got IK - so next year will def order early :(

Already? I'm intending to get either them or Royal Kidney (even nicer if anything!) in a couple of weeks at the potato day.
Try your local independent nursery too. My local has them!

Think you are right about Royal Kidney, Moonbells, I've just been reading up about them so maybe that's what we will go for next year.
We are also trying Yukon Gold for the first time this year - tho that shouldn't come udner a "disappointment" heading!

I sent an enquiry to Alan Romans regarding International Kidney availability and got this response:
Dear Michelle
International Kidney (Jersey Royal if grown on Jersey) has suffered this season. Before xmas it had levels of dry rot in the stock developing to over 50% infection rates. It can only be worse now. I believe there is only one certified stock and where ever you see it available it will be of this stock. My advise is to leave it this year and get Royal Kidney instead. This used to outsell Jersey Royal and is a more genuine salad potato in my opinion often with a better flavour and texture.
Best wishes
Alan Romans

I may end up suffering too then, our allotment association has a bulk delivery scheme, when there are shortages they tend to put an alternative in, but I may end up with a surprise !!!

We got International Kidney from Suttons this year. I have heard so much about the variety - all good things, so I am looking forward to growing them. Interesting to hear there is another variety called Royal Kidney, which I hadn't heard of. busy_lizzie
