I googled Autospade and found this web site.  Look 3/4 way down the page.  It says they are not made anymore and can often be found on ebay - at a price through  :o.

I found an auto-spade on the very first day we took over our plot. Someone had just chucked it over the fence between the plots and the spinney. I saw it, and well just had to rescue it.

Even though it looks in a complete state, it still works. I must get around to cleaning it up, I'm considering painting it British Racing Green and fixing a bicycle bell to it's "handlebars". :)

Blimey, sorry the delay, I've been meaning to get back to you.

I'll take some pictures as soon as I can, and give you some dimensions.

Also, I remember after we found it I googled for info on the thing and got directed to a link on ebay. A guy had had one for years and couldn't get any replacement springs for it so finally out of desperation got an engineer to make one for him, turned out he had to have 50 or so made to make it economic, anyways he was selling the others via ebay to re-coup his costs, might be worth you while having a look out for them.

I'll try my best to get the pictures and dimensions posted here by the weekend.

Hello again.

I've had a look through my history cache but can't find the guy who was selling the replacement springs for the spade.

But I did find this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7726915181&fromMakeTrack=true

on ebay..

Anyways, I will take some pictures of my spade and post them and the dims. at the weekend.
