Looking back over the year
« on: October 28, 2005, 20:23:20 »
Just been looking back through some of my old photos from this year, thought it might be a nice thread for everyone to add photos from their holidays or special events to remember summer.
DD
This is some of my photos from Cornish holiday. Liked it so much going back again this year.

Another photo from my Cornwall holiday, slightly reworked. Its great to go over all the photos from the year, seems to bring back great memories for me.
Started making slideshows for the TV, boring the relatives silly.

Lovely photos Dirkdigger and I am sure you will not bore your relatives with your slide show.  The helicopter one is great.  Were you standing on a tall building when you took it or were you up in an air balloon ?

Hi Paulines7, actually we were walking along the coastal path when we heard it coming up behind us. Took about 5 or 6 photos in total will try and post another in due course. I think the exact location was as we passed Gwennap ?head coastguard station.
Family already groan when I try and put another masterpiece on the dvd player, so tend not to bother at the moment. Saving them all up for Christmas when we have a get together. Nothing worth watching on TV anyway.
Feel so sorry for you GW, don't see how you can have time for a holiday with a garden full of flowers like you have. And who will feed your pet robin ?

Managed to find one.

Hi DD !  I adore the first picture.  To me it has everything.  The interesting location, the scenery and the people. I love pictures with people doing their everyday business. I would have that picture on my wall.

But....I have one question...where's the shark??!!  Your shark pictures were my favourite holiday pictures of all this past year!  ;D

They are beautiful!  You really do have an eye for a good piccy.  I adore the west country...from Dorset to Cornwall and am hoping one day my darling Ava will take me to the Scilly Isles....mind you, am yet to make it to Lundy and have seen it off Westward Ho! more times than I care to remember!

Gotta say, the shark pics are OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!!!

Glad you all like the shark photos, this is the Minack theatre. The shark became visible out over the stage in the distance. Swam in to the bay, seen the fisherman so ran over to try and capture him in the frame for a sense of scale.
Told my workmate about the encounter, said he would have jumped in after it. One of his ambitions to swim with a basking shark.
This picture shows the scale of the theatre, bit of a climb down. We did see a show on our holiday, an adaptation of an old Cliffy film "Summer Holiday".
Enjoyed the show, rain in the middle dampend us a little.
Well worth a visit if you are in the neighbourhood.

DD what fabulous pictures - have been enjoying looking at them these last few days but today I've seen the one of Minack Theatre and now I'm sitting here all choked up.....way back in the mid 70's enjoyed a wonderful performance there of 'Pirates of Penzance' a more suitable production could not have been possible!!.....with the lights twinkling in the background, it was for me a night I'll never forget!

Have always wanted to go back to Minack - have read and enjoyed every book written by Dereck Tangye, who lived there with his wife Jeannie.

Thanks for posting such beautiful photos - H.P.

Lovely pics  :)   I had a guest last night who had just returned from stormy Cornwall.  I've not been for years and wanted to go back this summer but ended up going north instead.  I long to see The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Eden, Padstow, and the Scilly Isles.  Maybe next year.  Ho hum  :)
I came, I saw, I composted

A few more images, Minack and towards the mount. The winchman was servicing the boat lift ready for winter.
