Alishka and witlof (type of chicory)
« on: October 17, 2003, 01:21:47 »
Last year I had great success forcing witlof (or witloof) at home in the winter. Lovely veggie raw as salad as well as boiled or baked with ham and/or cheese.

I enjoyed it so much that I mentioned it on the beeb board and Lish was very interested in it so I sent her the seeds with the instructions on how to grow it and what to do with the roots after they are taken out of the soil and how to force them in buckets to have nice fresh leafy veggies in winter.

Alishka, are you going to tell our friends here what you did with your recently harvested roots? -Ina

Eventually Lish will come around and tell you all what she did with the witlof roots. Just give her some time to get over the embarrassment. -Ina

Dear Alishka, I'll give you till this weekend to fess up or I'll tell the whole world about it without sparing any details. So you have a choice, tell it in your own words or I will in mine. This will NOT blow over hahaha.
Ohhhhhh, our friends are going to love the chicory story, especially the aftermath. -Ina

Here goes, Lish gave me permission to tell you all.

Instead of planting the roots and keeping them in the dark to force chicons, she skipped that whole part and ...... ATE THE ROOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jeez, we had so much fun about that. At first I refused to believe her, thought she was kidding but she wasn't! The aftermath was hurricane force.

You will all notice that Lish will not be on these boards for a while (nothing to do with eating the roots btw), she'll back as soon as she can. -Ina
