I've only got one school photo (I think mum must still have the others) and it's only of me!

I couldn't even recognise myself when I saw an old school photo a few years ago. I visited the place for the first time in thirty years, and it really felt wierd; the library was quite intimidating, with oil paintings of ancient headmasters everywhere on the walls, the gym, which gave me the willies big time (Homo, the games master, was a horrible sadistic bully, everyone hated him) is now the 6th Form common room, which didn't exist in my day. The chemistry master who showed us how to make explosives and poison gas is remembered as 'mad', and teh masters who systematically turned up late for lessons, or wagged off altogether, are remembered with contempt, as they ought to be.

Hi All,
I went to a boarding school between Whalley and Clitheroe, called Whiteacre school.
When we came back to UK two years ago, I wanted to show my daughter where I went to school. We found the lane it was on and it was no where to be found :(
We saw a gentleman in his garden and asked about the school. he said it had been pulled down years ago and there are flats there now.
So sad to see it gone, but at least I still have photos and the memories. :)
Go;;

Tim - back row, second from left?
Roy - my form tutor used to throw board rubbers at naughty kids too - this was only 15 years ago. I'm sure he'd have got into awful trouble if we'd told anyone. (Why didn't I think of that before?)
SHall have to see if I can get a school photo from mum...

That's nothing..Our metal work teacher would throw anything at hand, and yes you've guessed it, metal was his favourite missile.
He never hit any of us, but man! he came close. :o

We had a Chemistry teacher - Mr Scott - who used to waggle his false teeth - it was gross! And one of the teachers used to whack us on the head with a ruler if we weren't paying attention - in her opinion of course!

I had a horrendous Primary school teacher for 3 years. The poor man had been wounded in the war and had a brain injury. He wouldnt have been allowed to teach these days. He threw all sorts at pupils, rubbers, rulers, board cleaners but the worst thing was him shouting, which was most of the time. He marched up and down between the desks venting his annoyance and shouting. The nearest houses were couple of hundred yards away and they heard him. Some of the class were terrified of him but nothing could be done despite complaints about his behaviour many times. On the plus side, no one left for Secondary school uneducated. At least we could all read and write.
