Staging
« on: August 21, 2005, 09:02:00 »
I have a six sided greenhouse (Hexagon) which i bought off ebay, old but in good condition, the problem is the staging. With it being the shape it is, things ain't as straightforward, it has flimsy aluminium sheet for a table tops which wraps around four insides of the greenhouse on aluminium legs, which just about do the job, but the sheets are too thin really and you have to be "really" careful where you place things, now I need to replace these sheets, but with what is the question?? marine plywood maybe? any suggestions would be welcome.
Cheers Kev

Marine ply can be quite expensive, shuttering ply on the otherhand is the cheapest and will last just as long as marine, just dosn't look as pretty

Wardy, have you got shares in Two Wests and Elliott  ;D  ;D

Only teasing, I agree, they're great, I've bought from them in the past.  :)

I suggest that you keep the aluminium, but strengthen it with a sheet of ply underneath.  3 ply would probably do, and would last for quite a few years, especially if you treat it before installation.

I can't really see how the current system is held up, but if it's wobbly you might also want to add a couple of legs to each one to bear the (probably substantial) weight of whatever you put on to it.
