Growing Rhubarb from Seed?
« on: September 15, 2005, 03:56:00 »
Hello.

I would love to have a go at growing some rhubarb on my allotment. I cannot afford to buy plants or crowns. I am willing to try and grow them from seed. My question is has anyone done this and if so when do you sow them and what are the results like. I am willing to wait for a year or so for them to mature. I am expecting to so them next year so I will prepear the soil over winter so I can plant the young plants in well fertile clean soil next year early to get them going strong.

I'd suggest asking people on your allotment patch - I know if someone asked me I'd be happy to split my crown and give them some of it - bound to be worth it - where are you based?
