I think this is very sad and Adam would be well advised to leave A4All alone.

There are people out there who do struggle on pensions or low income to buy their seeds so that they have enough food to eat - and who do not sell seeds on ebay.

Fortunately I am not among this group, but I am very aware of people on our allotments who come into this category, and I am sure that there are many here too.

I have only just read this thread, having had it drawn to my attention by another member.

I am used to meeting beggars, living in Coventry, they are everywhere, and I often do the charitable thing and pass on some loose change. I have busked myself, when times were less sunny, so I could afford a beer. But I have always been resistant to aggressive begging, ie being accosted when unprepared.

I was a bit surprised to find this situation in the chat room last night, and whilst I did not feel anxious personally, I think it may need to come to Dan's attention (if he is not already aware) if it persists, as some members WILL feel uncomfortable and avoid the chatroom etc.

I am only speaking my mind here, I do not wish to offend ANYONE on this site, as Icy said to me in another thread - 'life is too short ...'.

Am I alone in feeling this way?

The chat room, well adam just kept asking me for seeds, when I told him I wasn't interested, he started on the sob story. Eventually I just left in disgust.

I do not think he is who he appears ...

Apparently, supersprout, lottie and georgie were in there before me, but had gone when I got there.

Yes, I am sure by now Dan has picked up on this thread ... he is too proud of this site to allow something like this to muddy the atmosphere (is that a mixed metaphor?), so I for one am not worried.

Lets hope this is the end of the matter.

I had left the chatroom before Adam arrived so I have no idea if his behaviour was unacceptable before Derek arrived.  I sent Dan a message when Adam's plea for seeds was first posted.  I was rather concerned that an alleged 13 year old was prepared to give out his name and address to complete strangers, and I asked Dan what the A4A policy was.  Still waiting for a reply...

Looks like it might be unfounded concern, Roy, but thanks anyway.  :)

There is an adam who says he is 13 wanting seeds potatoes and onion sets, from the T&M guestbook. He, according to an earlier post there, got 95% of any seeds he wanted free from Suttons. He keeps begging on there every couple of weeks or so.

Just checked adam13's profile and the email address matches up to the begging messages on the T&M guestbook.  :o >:(

He's no 13 year old kid.  If he is he's not wet behind the ears is he.  Right little empire builder.  You have to watch yourself on ebay as there are some pigs on there.  I thought the postage charged was fair after they'd weighed the parcel being sent.  Not at all.  They flog stuff cheap then charge a flaming fortune to post it.  I asked someone why they charge me £5 to post something which cost 19p   He told me I was an idiot and that it's a case of buyer beware.  He's right I was an idiot but I believed people were honest.  What a mug?

Having said that I bought some china crockery and it was all received, beautifully packed and the postage was exactly as stated  :)

Someone else has posted a message on the T&M guestbook - mine seems to have been deleted.

I looked this morning after seeing multi's comments and it was still there. It looked to be quite a stroppy message.
