Sooner the better - but, if you want to store, wait until the stem starts to dry up & then cut with a good bit of stem.

Hi Roy
I tend to cut mine at about 12" & have found that they last a good time after cutting.
Nice to see you feet & inches

Tim if I wait for the stem to dry won't the marrow be nearer 24"? ???

mine suppose to be a courgette. But after a rainy day, it turn to a marrow ;D. So I made soup of that and sliced it to stir fried with some garlic.

The current KG says the purple ones are the best.  I wondered if anyone has seen a mind pack of mixed seeds as I would not mind giving them a go but not ending up with thousands as never tried them before. They should do more mixed packs of everything imo
Get with the beat Baggy

Baggy I may have a few purple seeds left if you want to try some, will check my seed store this afternoon, you put them in later than the greens.

So Doris_Pinks does this mean that I could sow some kohl rabi now?  If so, is it best to sow in modules, or straight in the ground? Thanks, Helen

Yuet - greengage plums.

Marrow size? Large courgettes, actually. For storage, when they sound hollow.

Average 8lb!

Cor what whoppers Tim!

Helen, the purple Kohl Rabi I have is called "Purple Delicacy" And says sow June to August, so yes I would risk some now, not too much too lose! :)
I sow mine in modules because I have slugs the size of hippos on my plot, so have to start most of my delicates off at home.  DP

Marrow - humph. I love the beasties but SIX?

Average length of the green ones is 17".

I've managed to donate four of them but I think it's going to be marrow and ginger jam tomorrow!
