grape vine cutting
« on: July 21, 2005, 01:09:51 »
i have a grapevine in my garden that's not feeling well. the poor thing was covered in scale insects by may. avoiding nasty chemicals, i scraped off all the ones i could find and she perked up, rewarding me with zillions of leaves but no grapes. :-\
anyway, one of the leaf stems broke so i stuck it in a jar of tapwater and now, about a month later, she's sprouted six white roots one of which has many little branches :o

my question is (finally) what should i do now?
plant it in compost?
plant in compost and keep very wet?
leave it in water but add some plant food?

i'm feeling strangely attached to this little plant, any advice gratefully recieved, Tara xx

Plant it in compost and cut the stem back so it hasn't got much leaf to lose water through.
