Hyssop

Grew Hyssop (from seed) this year. Can anyone remind me why??
I travelled to a mystical time zone
but I missed my bed
so I soon came home

Isn't it supposed to be a good bee plant, makes a pretty hedge (apparently), can be used to treat bruises, makes essential oil for same, you can eat it in soup and salads and to accompany your veggies.  Good for coughs and catarrh.  Likes light soil and full sun.  It's supposed to be a good companion plant as it is a natural insect repellant. 

There, you knew all along why you'd grown it  :)

research shows it repels cabbage white butterflies....that's why i grow it amoungst my brassicas.  also tastes good in soups.
It'll be better next year

Just eaten some and can now understand why it repels butterflies...will definitely interplant with the brassicas next season.

I think it is used in some Mediterranean (Greek) cooking...

I like to bone a leg of lamb, mix some chopped hyssop with garlic, goats cheese and black olives, then stuff the the leg, truss and then roast it.

Yummy!
