Aphids maybe?
« on: June 30, 2005, 20:19:46 »
I noticed today on my sprout and broccoli seedlings 4" tall, that the tenderest, newest  leaves were wrinkley and bluish after gently unfolding these, there were woolly looking aphid eggs, if I squish em with thumb and finger will it kill the plant? or will the chemical bottle have to come out? :o

Yes, I have been squishing in that gentle way.  Quite satisfying, until you accidently pull leaves off or oik the plant out of the ground!  Must pay attention when I am on pest control!

I've just found some of my bigger leaves all folded over with what looks like white/grey fly inside and around, and then on the growing tips too.  Inside the curled up leaf is a squishy/slimy bit.  Is this what you had?  So should I get squishing, even on the growing tips?

That sounds exactly what I have happening, so yes squish the little darlings but gently enough not to rip off the leaf as I have done, Oh and have a bit of tissue at hand as your thumb will get quite wet :P ;D
