Sick Fish Part 2
« on: June 06, 2005, 08:55:16 »
Sorry I ran out of space. :) I really don`t know what this ailment is, but thought maybe parasites. I`m into day 3 of a 5 day course of Anti Parasite treatment, and although they seem to be hanging on, there doesn`t seem to be any improvement. Can someone please please help before I lose all my fish.
Mia

hi redmia and welcome ,sorry to hear your fish are unwell its so sad that u can have a healthey pond and introduce a couple of new fish and they bring in a infection to the pond and put all the other fish at risk, i stopped buying fish along time ago because i this problem and just let the fish i have breed , sounds like to me that your fish have fungus and needs to be treated with a proprietary fungicide but i am no expert , i really hope u are able to save your fish good luck and let us know

Hello Dibber,
Thank you for your kind words :) It is very sad, but I have no-one to blame but myself because I didn`t quarantine them before introducing them into the pond. I`ve had these carp since they were really small and have got quite attached to them :( Hopefully one of these treatments will do some good...I`ll let you know how they get on
Mia  :)

Hi
I am so sorry just one thing to add check the water quality make sure the ballance is ok and clean all filters and pumps make sure your getting as much oxygen into the water for them to help recover. I know you can also buy a tonic to put into the pool.
Have you got oxygenators in the pool mine eat them at times think its a form of medicine for them even lettuce leaf.
do hope they recover soon for you

Hi there sorry to hear about the fish. We keep fancy goldfish. How many gallons is the pond? Could you post pics of the fish? Fin rot causes red streaks in tail and can lead to death, white spot looks like some one sprinkled salt on fish, cotton fungus is as it sounds. Unfortunately the list is endless without pics. Melafix and primafix are the best on the market and can be given together. All natural stuff, solve parasites, worms, fungual infections, fin rot, bacterial infections. Most of the fish fanciers that show and breed use these two. You can buy mega bottles of the stuff from specialist shops or internet.

Afraid that quarantine would have prevented it, but easy to say with hindsight.
