Topic: Pea netting

I have some of this fencing left over http://www.diy.com/nav/garden/fencing-paving-decking/fencing/screening-wire-fencing/mesh/Climb-Plt-Mesh-5-x-0-5m-11987885. Will this be ok for growing peas up?

Fine for the dwarf types in theory but you might need two rows or a tent of it, pease seem to like to spread out a bit at the top. I've used that sort of mesh before adn not been 100% happy with it so will be using sticks this year, I'll use my bits of fencing to make bean frames by weaving  them up canes. Should suit the shorter climbing beans like Lima if not the monsters like Giganda...

Thanks, I have some 0.5m and 1m high so if I raise them off the ground by 10cm I should have enough height for my Kelvedon Wonder (0.6m) and Oregon Sugar Pod (1.1m).

I used that netting a few years ago and it was a bit short, I use the builders orange netting now, try and raise it up gradually once the peas have got hold.  ;D

This might seem like a silly question but I'm going to ask it anyway  ;D ...Should I grow peas up both sides of the netting or just the one side? I'm not sure if they wind through the netting as they grow, in which case planting both side will be pointless, or if they throw out tendrils to cling onto the netting ???

I've always grown on both sides, I actually use chicken wire between posts but the idea's the same and it would seem a waste of space not to use both sides.
