Please can anyone identify this weed?  Is is a type of dandelion?

Some of the images on google look similar to shepherds purse, but I do not think it is a brassica.  Root wrong shape/texture has a succulent root.

Like the thought it is chicory.  Perhaps we will have to leave some to flower. 

I nibbled a bit - quite tasty.  Looks like I will not die afterall.
