Flying display!
« on: July 15, 2005, 15:30:36 »
We have just had the most fantastic flying display from a trio of single engined machines. Either they were practising for a display or there is one somewhere in the vicintiy, but it was rather breath taking, even for someone who is not a particular aeroplane fan.

Not anywhere near Sunderland, are you?
I think it is their Air Show this weekend.
It is supposed to be the biggest free display in Europe.
No outfit is complete - without dog hairs!!!

Wasn't me, Eric!!

The last time I tried to show off, in a low-level pass, at an air display, I feathered Nos1&2 engines nearest the 'audience' so that it looked as though we were flying by the seat of our pants only.

Unfortunately, No3 engine cut out as well!!

Thankfully, a good margin of speed, & the help of what seemed like 6 pairs of hands, avoided the threatening court-martial!!

PS - This prompts me to show one of my earlier take-offs. Only one engine, but 13 rockets!!

Nowhere near Sunderland, in fact a long way from Sunderland.
Well showing off,Tim, was always a risky business.

Well they must have been rival ones, since they were practising 'dog fights'.
A couple of years ago we were treated to a display by a pair of biplanes, one of which was tred and black a la Richtoffen.

Only joking, but there is going to be an end of war anniversary air show down this way soon. It will feature mock dog fights and old fighter planes so I bet they were practising for this and other events that are happening around the country. You were lucky to get a preview without having to pay. Lets hope it all goes off safely.
