The lovely wind did you competitors a big favour yesterday, snapped in half my 2 foot sunflower  Cry  it was going to be the winning entrant of course growing to at least 20 feet (in my dreams!) So no need for the elephant to be sent this way this year!  DP Wonders *time to put more in?* Grin

Mine are either pathetic or they have been slugged.  Don't worry - not only am I novice sunflower grower but the slugs are seeing that even the pathetic ones get munched. Angry

The *elephant business* is BB's doing, just when you think you have a great winning sunflower, she dispatches her elephant to jump on it!!! Grin  Grin
in fact I think that is what happened to mine, it was not the wind at all but BB's pet!

Baggy, my slugs are the size of hippos so I can commiserate, but you have to watch out for that blinking elephant of BB's, it does untold damage!! Grin  Grin  Grin  Grin

Look, I am down to just 2 bl**dy plants for goodness sakes!  Started with dozens I tell ya.  Those slugs and snails have a lot to answer for!  Problem is, been devoting my time to all of my squashes, after loosing so many of them to the slimeys last year, and not keeping an eye on my sunflowers!  Heyho, still time to bung in a few more seeds...might try to win the prize for picking sunflowers for a Christmas day display! Dd - thanks for the explanation on the "Elephant business"  Grin Grin

I put all of mine in their borders yesterday and in a contraption OH has built for me.  Will have to take a photo soon.  I think I am lucky as no slugs eating my sunflowers in this area of the world.  We had mega work yesterday in the garden and found lots of the juicy things lurking underneath the pots.  They were dispatched int'other world as I hate them.

I am going to put some more in pots very soon - not sure where I will put them though !?  Huh   Grin
