I was a bit worried for a moment that I'd stumbled into the Watershed, with a title like that LOL.

Maz, this is great.  I'm very pleased for you.  I can't wait to see your regular updates (hint hint)

I dunno, between this thread and the webcam thread, I'll never be away from the computer until at least the end of June LOL

Sam.

If you thought that was possibly rude you dont wanna know what I called the thread in my MSN group!   Shocked    lolololol    Grin

Im not sure there will be too many updates Petals cos it takes an awful lot of time and patience to wait for them. Patience I have but time is short in a busy day.   Roll Eyes

On a more serious note, I think that is a Great Tit. Click on this for a good site. Lots of info, plus listen to bird songs & calls.  Smiley

Maz fantastic.I would love to put bird box up but Elsa would just bark bark bark when ever she saw the birds. I have got blackbirds nesting in the conifers. As Elsa was still dopey after having her six teeth out today I popped up the garden to make sure the nest was still ok. Congratulations Lorna

So pleased for you Maz and i am soooo jealous  Grin

Got my own bird box up, and like Maz's its been there for about six years now, but nothing  Cry

Ive been watching the blue tit all day long, he uses my facilities as a diner, come en suite, he gathers food up all day long and takes a dip in my bird bath and then hes off to what seems like a fancier pad than i can offer  Sad

P.S  I know what Maz called her other thread on the MSN group and it was VERY RUDE  Grin

Maz, i use that bird site too and have been a member for a long time now, its very informative when you are trying to identify a new bird by either its call or its appearance.

Good luck with your brood

We had a nest box for quite a few years.  The first year we put it up we were lucky enough to get a family of blue tits.  They started to grow up, got ready to leave the nest and died.  The following year, the same thing happened, only this time, mum was in there dead too.  Same thing the following year.  We couldn't take it any more and took the box down for fear of it happening again.  Our Mr & Mrs Blue Tit still come back every year though to sit in the buddliah (spelling?) and feed etc.  They haven't forgotten us!  Cry Cry

Wasn't down to any foods, pesticides etc., in our garden, but can't rule it out from elsewhere.

Maz - jealous.

Our winter project this year - when we can't do any gardening - is to build bird boxes (hopefully the local birds won't be too fussy because my carpentry is rubbish!)

They are bringing food back to the box now. Would that be for babies or would it be the male feeding the female while she sits on the eggs?

My bird book does not say  Huh

The female great tit definitely builds the nest all on her own.  I presume when she is sitting on the eggs, the male brings her food and when the young hatch, he would have to bring even more ?
Sorry I cannot help with this query Maz.  Hope someone else can!

Thanks girls.  Kiss

I thought the food was prolly for the female because its seems very quiet in there so I suspect the eggs are not yet hatched.

Lilylover yes it is exciting isnt it?  Grin
