Topic: Juniper for berries

My wife would like a juniper with the idea of making gin using the berries!  Sounds fun but something I know little about. 
Will they grow and fruit well (I'm in London) and if so what varieties make a suitable garden plant - nothing too big would be ideal but large enough to get a crop that could be used to make a few bottles.

Not something I know much about either. According to Kore Wild Fruit you need a male and a female plant to get berries.

You will need a still for making the gin, unless you are just steeping them in vodka, there is also a load of botanicals needed to make the perfect gin.

Juts to be clear I am not starting a new career as a hillbilly - just going to try flavouring some vodka with some juniper and other bits and bobs.

Unless you want to grow Junipers, the dried berries are readily available in ASDA and probably all other supermarkets too.  We love to add a few to a roast, especially to a slow cooker beef roast.  Yum.

I have seen them growing naturally in a windy, heathland coastal area in Sweden and there they were low bushes.

I know - really cheap on Amazon too but Mrs B is busy with dreams of the good life.  Seems to be more trouble than it is worth but if it keeps everyone happy then who am I to moan!
