Is this plant Deadly Nightshade?
« on: September 25, 2016, 19:57:13 »
I have a plant growing in a shaded corner of my allotment. I think it may be Deadly Nightshade.

Oh sorry picture did not show. Will have to ask a teenager to help me. I'll be back when I have found one. Could be a few days, lol!

its quite a common weed its like a potato leaf with black berries little white flowers just a tip when pulling it up put your hand at the bottom of the stem and pull sideways it will come out easier  and youll get the root out hope this helps

Deadly Nightshade doesn't have white flowers and isn't all that common. Maybe Johnny is thinking of Black Nightshade. Can't tell without a photo though.

I don't know what it is, but not deadly nightshade. Wrong shaped flowers.

I would say yes - if you Google 'deadly nightshade images' you will see lots of photos of both flowers and berries.

Not any kind of nightshade. It's Tutsan (Hypericum androsaemum), a kind of St John's Wort.

The leaves are two directly opposite one another, if that helps to identify it.
