I've just seen the culprits! It is baby sparrows that are eating the red flowers
. Three of them have just demolished an entire spray with apparent enjoyment. There are at least a dozen new sparrow fledglings in the hedge so I'm going to try to net the wigwam but I'll need help because of the height. A job for tomorrow. I also sowed half a dozen Moonlight a couple of days ago, hopefully I'll get a late harvest for the freezer. I made my first picking of Cobra today, (the sparrows haven't touched those flowers
) - just enough to accompany my lamb chop for supper.
