I cheated and bought mine from Sainsburys.  Good value pack of twenty for £3.  And there were between three and five in each module.  Plants are looking very bonny.

Got fed up with the mice and slugs hoovering them off.

Eight months on and I finally got a bunch of Sweet Peas:

I don't know about you lot but for me this season seems to have been going on forever!

But then again; now that we have had the solstice I guess it will be all down hill from here on.

I have a show on Saturday but have some caterpillars eating the flower buds, a thing I have never had before in over 60 years, so not  sure what results I might get. I was in Hospital last week to have stents to help my breathing so all a bit upside down. Here's hoping.

Best of luck with your show on Saturday Laurie, take it easy at the show I know how the buzz of entering events such as this can get the heart racing which in turn can leave you quite breathless.

Regarding the caterpillars; personally I think it is down to the seasons or should that be the lack of seasons we have had in the last few years. I think that in the past many of these pests were culled by the winter weather but now due to the generally mild winters we have had of late this cull is not as severe as it was in the past.

Take a camera to the show I for one would like to see some of your entries ( win or lose)

Once again " Best of Luck" ....Tg

I take it you like Sweet Peas then?  :toothy10:

I only grow around a dozen so that I can always keep on top of them as far as cutting is concerned, and never allow them to set seed, this way I can get a faily long season

Many thanks for your best wishes, went to cut flowers then really saw how many had bent stems but entered ( on paper) 2 classes but when I got to the show there was really only enough for a single vase of ten stems but when we went back after we had judged another show , to my delight I had been awarded best vase and best exhibit so I hold the cup for another year. I see I first won that cup 42 years ago, where does the time go.!!!!!

Well done Laurie, as they say old habits die hard, as you have proved once again.

I also think it is even sweeter when you enter an exhibit with tongue in cheek and it turns out to be a winner!

Very many thanks, I must just say I had a query as I walked home with a few sweet pea flowers when a lady asked "when you cut sweet pea flowers does it stop you getting ordinary peas to eat"
