Smoked Paprika
« on: February 27, 2015, 13:52:13 »
I'm having trouble finding a good brand of smoked paprika to use in my cooking. I've been using Tesco's but it does not pack a punch and is quite bland. Anyone out there found one they swear by and where you bought it?

Can't buy smoked paprika in supermarkets near me but I did get some ina  raid on an Indian supermarket when visiting friends in Bristol.   Now they have it on the spice stall at my favourite weekly market.  It's much better than ordinary paprika but if I want extra heat I add some some chipotle chili flakes or sambal oelek to liven things up if I don't have any fresh chilies available.

Down south here Yorkshire Lass but I buy mine from our local Horsham Town and Country Weigh - a lovely individual little shop that sells all flours, rice, and other loose goods. Will quite happily buy a sachet of his home bagged spice and post it to you to try.

That's the one I use too, it's looovely. They do both a mild and hot and you don't need much to get a great flavour.

Thanks for your replies. I'll see what I can find apart from Tesco's, they only seem to stock their own, Thanks Ninnyscrops I'd like to try some. I'll message you.

More than welcome Yorkshire Lass, I'll let Town and Country Weigh know. You don't see many of these shops around now so we "use them, rather than lose them"  :icon_cheers:

PS - if you need anymore his phone number is on the sachet and if he doesn't post out then I'm quite happy to buy some and post it on.
