Gooseberries
« on: September 14, 2014, 08:56:30 »
Have two bushes at the lotty, one fruited well for the first time and I got some for the table. The other was later and they were all good one day and the bush was completely stripped a few days later despite being netted. Last time this happened they weren't and I hoped it might have been birds, not this time though!! Our allotments are well hidden but someone must know who is doing this, it makes me furious after all I have done. Anyway they are out of luck cos I am moving them to the garden this autumn.

I know only too well how frustrating it is to grow something and find it is being stolen.  I have a very good idea who is doing it and even then that does not help.  I even caught one with three large bags of vegetables and that is not enough.  They unfortunately know just how far they can go.

I loose a lot a rhubarb and cabbages.  Some of the rhubarb has been stripped so badly it will produce very little next year.
