egg box seedlings

any one tried growing lettuce  seedlings in egg boxes in stesd of trays
i have loads of egg boxes, but a bit short on trays at the moment.

Mmmm I have tried it but I found it to be rubbish. They dry out too quickly and there's not really enough soil. What about plastic containers? Like old icecream cartons etc. I have always had more luck with them.
