I am growing my tomatoes in bottomless black buckets in growbags. On returning from hols today I pulled back the plastic on some of the grobags to get some water to the roots and found lots of woodlice in there. I'm guessing this means the compost is too dry, but will they damage the roots?

Woodlice may not do much harm to the roots but they get into the fruits and eat those. Where the weight of my big tomatoes pulled them down to the ground the woodlice got into the cracks in the base[ big Delicious like Marmande] so they aren't completely benign. I think I now have more woodlice than slugs... been a dry year until just recently.
