Well, speaking as someone who has a silly habit of 'missing an ingredient out' ;D

I would have thought that there would have been enough sugar in the dried fruit, so that the addition of sugar would not have been missed.

No help to you at all but if ever Bara Brith gets mentioned it reminds me of the time I spent a few weeks in
 Hay On Wye.

The good ladies of the WI had a stall and we were told how good their produce was but to go early as they sold out quickly.

The Bara Brith was food of the gods,as was everything else they sold come to mention it  :)

Well i have compromised and added the last 2 oz of golden caster suger i had left in the bottom of one bag and added 2 teaspoons of honey to a little hot water and poured the fruit/tea mix in and blended before adding the flour have forgotten to add an egg so i am not imaging good things :( honestly this is the 2nd time i have tried to make it and the 2nd time i have messed it up ! And i dont even like it the husband does and he normaly makes if but i offered - silly me :(

My Moroccan lamb dish worked out so i guess i cant grumble 2 much.
