I've found my own succesful way of sowing & germinating seeds- as most of us have. But, sometimes you need a steer from the instructions on the seed packet.

I've noticed that most instructions tell you to 'keep the seed tray covered until after germination' with glass or cling film, etc. If I did that would I need to remove the glass/cling film to water, or would the water applied at sowing time be conserved by the covering?

Thanks.

I think there is usually enough water absorbed in the compost to germinate but if not water from below. I do this before seed sowing.
