I recently bought a couple of Dahlia's from B&Q for £1 each and wondered when it would be ok to take cuttings.

When you start the dormant tubers back into growth in the early spring.

You can take cuttings as suggested in the spring or just divide the tuber again in the spring when you can see the young buds
