It's our BIG Day!!

The Society celebrates its Centenary - a few days later actually, but near enough - and we've got the Official Opening of our new Lottery-funded composting toilet.

There's a former Mayor to do the actual deed, plus the English Chair and the London head of The Big Lottery Fund to present us with a BIG cheque. (Sounds fun!) And our MP - Nick Hurd, who has Cabinet responsibility for the voluntary sector - our local Councillor, the Chairman of the Trustees who actually own the land, the local historian, the local press and various other friends of the site and local bodies will be there as well.

A Walkabout round the site - showing them the work we've done on the infrastructure, the new Starter Plots for novices and the plot used by MIND, plus the plots themselves, of course - then a BBQ for 150-plus.

Everyone - well, nearly everyone - has worked their socks off to make the site look good and to make the day happen. I know the whole point of the Lottery awards is to make communities come together, but I'm seeing it happen! The whole project has rather taken over my life for the past few weeks - which is why I haven't contributed much to A4A recently - but now it seems to have a life of its own.

Even the weather looks good! (Just us well - I wouldn't like to put up our marquee in the winds we've had today!!)

Wish us well. And roll on Monday....

If your local MP buys anything, make sure it comes out of his own pocket and not expenses !

Kings and queens poo just like us peasants, with no exception for mayors! It all smells exactly the same.

I'll try to post some photos, but I think my sub has run out! (I'll sort it out next week, so there might be a delay.)

The site is looking good - well, most of it! (Tell me you've all got grotty bits as well....) Last-minute stuff today with the mower & strimmer. Just hope I don't run out of adrenolin!!
