Yesterday I noticed a pair on next door`s roof-they moved onto my lawn and hung around.

Today I not only loaded the bird table but threw some seed on the grass.

They were soon there and later were in my pond inbetween snoozing just by it.

Are they `passing` or do I have potential parents to look after ?

I have no idea when wild ducks lay eggs or what they are looking for.

Cleo the cat will be no problem

They are still here and seem happy enough living in/next to the pond.

Am I alone in having them move in?

Looks as though this thread  is going to be a monologue Grin.

Anyway earlier today there was some rather loud quacking coming from the pond, I checked as I feared something had upset them.

Quite the contrary-I averted my eyes

Your ducks sound more far more sensible than the ducks near me. The majority of them nest on the riverbank but for the last 4 years some of them have decided to nest in the narrow strips of land planted up with low growing shrubs & bulbs between the parking spaces in the cul de sac I live in. The cats round here are not so nice they usually mutilate or kill quite a a few of the ducklings & we no longer have hedgehogs since one particular cat worked out a way to disembowel them.
