Marker Pen

Can anyone recommend a pen for marking plastic plant labels which is guaranteed to last, not fade or wash away,
if they can give me a link as to what and where to buy I will be very grateful,

There is no"quaranteed" ones available..they all fade..
I use pencil or ball pen..

I use Stabilo Write-4-all. I use it on labels, bought and home made. Its permanent and works for me.

Oh nearly forgot, I got mine from a stationers.....but Im sure you could get them from larger supermarkets.

I've tried every pen on the market [and I'm a stationery freak at the best of times].

But after all that, I use a pencil.

A good HB pencil doesn't fade and you can rub it off for next year

Black CD marker pens aren't bad. Permanent marker is no good as the UV fades it.

Thats the ones Robert. I just wrote down wots on the pen, I find they dont fade for me WWilk

I find Sharpies good value. They last and dont cost a fortune. Available at Asda , Wilko's etc.

Thanks all, will look into those you have said, I even bought last year one of those 'dymo' type label makers, but after the winter they have all faded.

Late catching up with this thread - I use a chinagraph pencil on labels made from margarine tub plastic.  Works for me.

Hi small, just had a look at those pencils, and on the Amazon site it says in the description,
 'The pencil mark is impervious to water and dampness yet may be easily removed with a dry cloth.'

are they alright outside in the garden in all weathers??

Confession time, I don't usually use labels outdoors, chinagraph certainly stays on inside and since my labels are only marge pots I throw them away....
I've marked up my early spuds today with green gloss paint on lengths of floorboard, but that's another story.....

Thanks for all this, am going into the local Stationers today to see if they can suggest a pen,
there is one out there because I have a plant in the garden, been there for 2 or more years and the hand written label is still as clear as the day I bought it,
but!! cannot remember where or who from I got this plant,

I use a scaffolding tag pen they are made for writting on
plastic and do not fade at all

Not sure how to get a scaffolding tag pen !!!
went to stationer and was suggested a Laundry Marker pen, looks alright but tip is a bit thick, also a Staedter permanent  pen, nice thin nib,
but only time will tell,
thank you all for your advice and when in Town will look for Sharpies , they seem to be the most popular, might look at Amazon.

We use the staedtler cd permanent markers fron wilkies for £1. Use dilute bleach to clean them at the end of the season.

I've found Sharpies good, fine tip, clear writing, but as this is the first year I've used them I'll have to let you know.  So far they have been the best I've tried.
