This pumpkin has a pale green 'turban top' - there is a named variety that looks very like this, but this one is a cross - almost certainly between 'crown prince' and 'turks cap'.

Doesn't look as good now as it did (now more grey than green) but still keeping well.

Please don't be offended by my nickname 'Mortality'
As to its history it was the name of a character I played in an online game called 'Everquest'
The character 'Mortality Rate' was a female Dark Elf Necromancer, the name seemed apt at the time and has been used alot by me over the years.

The buttercups look a bit like that.... though the shape could be Triamble....

I just re-found the one that looks like this - 'burgess vine buttercup' has the same "turban" - though it seems to be knobbly rather than having this lovely William-Morris-type pattern on the skin... it's hard to tell from the tiny photo I found.

Glad you liked it - I fell in love with it - prettiest pumpkin I've ever seen. Hope it comes true next year.

There are two other photos in my gallery space.

Cheers.

Hmm... I'm growing Burgess this year... I'll have to keep an eye out for any naughty business...... (Mostly I want to compare them against Bon-Bon.....)
