hi,

i`ve just setup a new 2000 gallon pond with a large multibay vortex filter, with brushes, matting and afagrog. all new. the water has only been in 2 day but the water is a little milky. what could this be? i know it is very eerily days but has anyone else had this? i have also added a pond start to get the filter started.

any comments.

paul.

could be anything. The pond start having an effect or washing off any residues on pond and filter surfaces or something environmental.

This is what you get - new pond syndrome. Wait a few months, at least, for things to settle down. At this time of year it will take a while unless you are also heating the water.

Its dust from the alphagrog, it will settle out or get caught by the filters.

Nice set up by the way.

Add 2 fish to kick start the filter bacteria, feed sparingly then no more fish untill spring. Dont add any filter start you dont need it and besides its made of dead bacteria so doesnt work anyway.

Did you also buy water testing kits? If so test the water every 3 days untill the nitrogen settles down, if it spikes too high then 10% water change imediately.
If you havent bought water test kits go get some.

Nice to see another fish keeper on here. Grin

All I get is "internet explorer cannot display the webpage"

but glad to hear the water has cleared. I had my pond cleaned in May and for a time the water was clear as a bell but it's gradually becoming more and more murky.
