Pound Shop
« on: July 28, 2008, 08:31:16 »
Guess what folks, we are to have a pound shop in Sutton Coldfield and on the Parade. The Marks and Spencer Brigade were p***ed off enough when Aldi opened up.(They do go in there but they bring their purchases out in a Marks And Spencers bag.)lol. They reckon these shops lower the tone of the area. I can't wait for it to open. I can start at Wilkie's and finish up in there.
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

It sounds as though that lot need their tone lowered for them!

If they can manage a Pound shop in Boldmere then you commoners in Sutton Coldfield shouldn't be complaining  ;D

To be honest the shopping centre in Sutton is its own worst enemy.  My mate used to run a very good and successful bike shop there.  Until, that is, they decided to double the rents over night with no prior warning.  Meant that he had to shut down right away, sutton lost its bike shop and the owners of the premisies lost their rent.

Give it another four or five years and Sutton will be the new Erdington  ::)

Didcot amazes me, even though its in the heart of the rolling downs by no means is it a qaint north wessex market town... Only a wilko's managed to sneak in under the fence a few years ago - but thats it, no Lidls, Aldi's not even a proper paand shop (well it does have a small independant one...).

Just look at the clothes shops though, Keef.  No class there at all, unsurprisingly.   ;)  Mind you, there's a fine selection of charity shops wherein I have acquired many a bargain (not in the clothing line, obviously).

What independent £ shop?  or are you thinking of the one in Wantage?

On the way up to WH Smith's on the one sided high street - next door to the butchers that sells meat that makes your nose bleed.

Ah, "The Value House".  Not really a £ shop, though.  Some of their stuff's not particularly cheap either.  Wilko's is better.

Wrexham must be struggling. Last time I was there the Pound Shop had closed down.  couldn't stand the competition from the 99p shop

My pound shop is always closing down, only to open a few weeks later 'under new management'.
