A couple of weeks ago we had snow here in Manchester and I dashed to get my digital camera as the garden looked lovely. I checked the setting which just means turning the thingy and the condition for the pics is shown on the screen but it was all a waste of time - far too light.

Does anyone know what the settingon the camera should be when everything is light and bright?

Put exposure on manual, and set it to underexpose. Experiment with different settings and pick the best results. I can't tell you exactly as it depends too much on the camera and the lighting conditions.
