Mine's in Eltham, SE London - just up the road from New Eltham station, and about 4 miles from my house (nearest site I could find with a vacancy - didn't take me long to realise why...).

Just down the road then, sort of. Hello neighbour!

So, any other Londoners with allotments or are we the only two?

Cheers,

I'm in North-west London about a mile from Brent Cross shopping centre. Currently in the process of clearing a third plot which should come into production next spring. This will give me a total of 15 poles and possibly enough space to grow some potatoes. Anyone passing is welcome to visit but the tea facilities will not come on stream until autumn/winter.

I'm in Wimbledon, across from where the Wimbledon footballstadium was (now a building site for mammoth blocks of flats)

it's a site where they had railway sidings and some people dig up sleepers and lots of ballast from their plots. Also a lot of bombs landed nearby and I'm always digging up bomb-damaged bits of house, like broken plates and cups with slag melted onto them.

what are your plots like?

Hi all,

We are not that far from Pigeonseed - over at Martin Way, near Raynes Park.

It was a site from the 1930s when the surrounding houses were built. The site is actually split either side of Martin Way, a busy road.

I've put a pin in my plot on the member map.

Hi OC and Pigeonseed,

not too far from ya both,  Tolworth ( Raeburn Ave ).  Ours is not as exciting as your debris stories.   We are on a small streams flood plain ( topical ! ).  :-)

Pin is in the map I think - yeap just checked.

Hi Riffster,

I know the Hogsmill well, it always has been delicately scented around there!

If you really zoom in on the "satellite" (they are actually air photos) you can place the pin to plot accuracy. The photos were taken in April/May 2006 for our part of London based on my guesswork.

Regards

OC,

I've placed the pin in exactly the right plot now.   I hadn't previously for two reasons.
The Sat pic was taken before  1st Apr this year.  The date I got the plot. - so it may seem to you that I had done nothing :-)

2nd reason.  I didn't want my plot exactly specified.   I'll move the pin tomorrow again so the position is vague - Young yobs etc..... ( me being paranoid etc... )

regards

   Riffster :-)

Right on the NW fringe of London - the countryside proper starts two lanes behind our house and we've still got a farm on our road (not working properly any more, alas).

I've put the pin on my plot. If you zoom in you can count the grapes & loganberries!

Anyone in the area fancy joining us? I'm plot secretary and I'm working my way through the waiting list....

OC
I know that site I live very close - I went to see a few plots there when I moved here but they were in such bad condition I kept my old plot.

Some of them were just covered in trees - brambles I can handle, trees are too much! It's such a shame, it is a nice secluded haven among all the traffic and houses.
