I sowed some seeds a month ago and have them in my conservatory to germinate, but nothing so far ...
My sunflowers, nastursiums, verbena, delphniums and lobelia are growing apace. Does anyone have any advice?

Not too sure Anna.  I bought one plant many moons ago and that was enough.  The little beauty seeded its self everywhere .  Love Alchemilla molis though, so pretty with dew or rain on it.  Once they do germinate and you plant out your babies, remember to cut off theFlowering stems once they start to go brown then they wont be a pest seeding all over.

i think they might do better with fresh seed but i would not despair yet - some things take FOREVER to germinate. read somewhere that you should keep germinating seeds for at least two years! the rest sound good though - mine are just poking up through (many) modules - have had a sowing marathon of late, think I amup to around 600. seed trays EVERWHERE

2 years!    I have to admit that there are certain things I have on, hoping, and occassionally I am glad I did.  I finally have peonies growing from their golf ball rock hard seeds, and a selection of weird and wonderfuls from South America.  Generally though, if the tray is still baron when everything else has been planted, then it gets bunged onto the garden.  Alsorts of things suddenly spring through.

Garden answers - they have a thing on seeds this issue and i covered the seed with vermiculite instead of compost, just to be clever - but apparently this lets the light in . doh!

I have a newspaper on top of the tray, just in case that helps.

Sorry did not read this earlieer. Alchemilla mollis needs a period of cold to initiate germination. Take them out of your Conservatory and put them outside somewhere safe and they should germinate later in Spring.

Vermiculite? Great for everything - but only use the finest grade.

Mantle? Love it, but why does it always tip the dewdrops into your shoes as you walk up the path? = Tim
