I'm put some seed trays (without drainage holes) on a bench in the greenhouse, cut a piece of capillary matting to fit, on top goes capillary matting cover also cut to fit the tray, put in plug plants, cut long strip of capillary matting, tucked one end under the capillary matting in the tray and the other end dipped into a large water container (taller than the seed tray)...so the long strip is in an upside U shape, up out of the water container and down into the tray. The result overnight...a flooded tray. What's happened? Does the water container need to be lower than the seed tray?
thanks

Yes the container needs to be level or slightly lower , what has happen is the water kept flowing until it found its own level

have you thought of having draining holes in bottom of containers and putting them on the wet capillary matting? i'm sure thats what everyone else does, and its easier
