Aldi - fruit trees next week

Got a pear and a nectarine at Aldi's this morning.  The pear is on a 'semi-dwarf' rootstock.  Had always wanted a nectarine and was delighted to find one at Aldi's.  
My local Aldi's had a lot of these fruit trees and an excellent selection.  My lottie neighbour got two different varieties of cherry a plum and an apricot.
Morrisons supermarkets are also doing an offer on fruit trees - their's are £4.99 - and their apple varieties available this morning included Charles Ross, Grenadier (a cooker), Cox's, Sunset, Bramley - and these are on M26 rootstock, which is semi-dwarf.  Morrisons seem to be re-stocking their fruit trees as when I was in there last Saturday they didn't have many left but there was a good selection again today.

"Victoria Plum"
 and a "Morrelo Cherry"

 God Knows where i will put them, but could not stop myself at £3.99 each.
Due to being barerooted i think i will put them in large containers untill i'am sure.

I'm in the same boat having bought "Conference Pear" & "Victoria Plum" didn't realise till I got them home that they could reach 35ft .

Is there anyway we can keep them at a controlable height? or anyway of finding out the root stock?

I think it's highly unlikely that they'd be on a very vigorous stock, which would take many years to come into bear! Mostly apples are on either MM109 or M26, and other trees are also on stocks which produce garden-sized trees. Don't worry too much about that one.

Ok, quick question (or two) for the first time planting fruit tree's,

How far apart do I need to plant them?
and
There is snow forecasted and the place I want to plant is really wet (clay soil).

I bought Granny smiths and Golden Delicious.

Depends on the eventual size of the tree. As a general guide, 15 feet for a bush tree, 20 for a half standard and 30 for a standard. The latter would be a tree on a vigorous rootstock; 15 or 20 would be right, depending on the rootstock. Young trees are easy to move so I'd sugest putting them in, then waiting to see how fast they grow if you're not sure.
