Is Dan an ogre?

noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Dan ain't no ogre.. no way Jose .. A4A is the most laid back gardening site on the planet and also hear it's becomming quite popular on Kpax tooooo and I for one cant wait to welcome our first Kpaxian member, but one snag with going intergalitic is that we might attract the "Wrong" sort of alien life form.... mark my words we would all be sorry if we gave a big big big it up welcome for "Boris_Da_Borg... believe you me!!!

...and as I canlt reply on yuor thread Dan;   you must be some sort of seriously blessed person with the patience of a saint to keep on running such a great site through the odd hassle that we create for you as well as the general upkeep!.

Ogre?   More like the ever serene Merlin or Gandalf the white...not at all intimating you might be very old of course before someone asks the obvious......

i'm on all sorts of message boards and discussion groups, and they all have their own ethos. Some are seriously anal, with no chitchat at all, some have little but chitchat. One descends periodically into flame wars over US politics. It all depends on the moderation, and the culture; US-based groups tend to have a different feel to UK-based ones.

This one tends to a fair bit of chitchat, but not as much as one or two others. If a thread goes too far in that direction, a friendly post from a moderator would soon pull it back. I do wonder if Dan's taking on rather a lot moderating it all himself; I hope he won't take it amiss if I suggest appointing a couple of members as extra moderators.

I think Dan is right, it is easy to go off subject very easily. I think especially this time of the year when  people are not able to get on their allotmenst/gardens the chit chat in threads increases ten fold. However, it is Dan's site and he is entitled to bring us to order.. probably  most of us have been guilty, so I for one will try harder Dan

He conducts the site very well (and i am probably guilty of the off topic chit chat) so he could be a good ogre, like shrek (or not an ogre at all)

Dan is brilliant at running his own site , an OGRE NO WAY EVER, when Dan says jump we say how high, that is the respect for the man on this site.

I will definitely try very hard to keep to the correct alloted space for chit chat.
