I luv it, better than a bottle of Valium ... not quite as good as a pint of Guinness, but  ...      {:¬)#

From memory Bob reckons that you will need to dig a bed initially -but once you've done it and got the weeds out (the tricky bit) you don't need to do it again.

Love it!  Nothing looks sexier (apart from my darling and Iwan Thomas) than a freshly dug, fluffed up veggie patch, just waiting for lovely new plantlets to make themselves at home!

Have to be in the mood to dig, and then I dig for England, has to be clearing a wilderness area to make me really happy, but on the whole I am a raised bed kinda gal to keep my Osteopath happy and less wealthy! ;D

Very strange thing, I get ocassional attacks of Sciatica, but when I cycle to the plot, or am even digging, it just disappears, is it just in my mind after all ?   *scratches head*

I'm with you on this little brother...I never considered a dug garden to be sexy...it must be a 'girl thing'  ;)

When I go home covered in mud looking like a dug over garden with hair I am sure my Governor doesn't consider me sexy for one minute...or am I missing some signals here???

I get the same response Derek, and not just from my OH, but all the passers-by who see this tramp-like creature from the bog wandering across the carpark with bags of carrots and parsnips ...  ;D

Today I loved it. After doing my back a bit of an injury I stopped going to the lottie for a while. After the first few minutes of stiffness I really enjoyed it. I've got to work tonight otherwise I'd be tempted to go back and do some more.

I am for the third option, "it depends"!  If I am digging lovely soft already cultivated soil, then "yes", it is very satisfying, but if I am having to dig couch grass or other weeds out, then "no".  It is a particularly big "no" if I am digging clay like soil that is heavy and backbreaking.  :) busy_lizzie

Break yourself back in gently Crash, no point in risking further back injury ... The plot will still be there next time you visit ...  ;D

I'm still at the stage of digging out couch grass etc and I have done 7.5 of my target 8 beds.  I hate digging at the moment as it's so heavy and every time I go up the lottie more couch has sprung up where I've dug! :(

Couch grassin', ever diggin', bed mulchin', back breakin', poo spreadin', slow livin', veg growin'....Andy!

Only in some respects Derek. Unlike you I've got long hair, glasses, am scrawny and smell worse than my dog!

He he well I used to have long hair - once ... and I do wear glasses - removed for the picture to avoid flash reflections ... I am scruffy if not scrawny, and often smell worse than a dog in a bog! But I do scrub up nice ...  ;D

Last night when I got to work I was telling the lads about going down to the lottie. One asked "What are you growing?" I said "Nothing I just go and dig!" One day I'll have some produce.... I hope...
