Hi all.  Don't have an allotment yet - but I am living in hope!  Anyway Daughter No. 2 is carving her pumpkin as we speak and I wondered if I should save the seeds - just in case I get some ground to plant sometime?  The pumpkin came from my uncle so no idea what variety.  Do I just dry them out naturally or can I put them in the airing cupboard?  I guess then I just store them somewhere dry until I can plant them?   Huh

Thanks - sorry another question - very new at this gardening lark! - do you sew them straight into the ground or pots first and when?  Cheers

Hi Wardy - this particular pumpkin was a bit small by the time she'd messed around with it for any culinary delights but I have another that is all mine....all mine!  Tongue

I usually start mine in the warm...either a windowsill  greenhouse or conservatory if you have one..then harden them off before planting them out in the warmer weather.

Thanks - I have a conservatory so will try that.  If the allotment doesn't come through I will just have to give the plants to my dad for his plot!  Wink

I saved the seeds from my last pumpkin, and am eating them as I speak. I was unsure how to roast them, so I just bunged them in a dry cast iron skillet, and gave them a while until they started to smell sort of roasted ...

I am eating them whole , shell and all and they are delicious. My wife and daughter agree ...

Why would anyone want to expel poppy seeds?  Grin

All the pumpkin seeds were eaten at one sitting by the way ...
